Hiking

Getting out into the woods is one of the most popular activities in our region, and you can enjoy all sorts of hikes, from the easiest to the most challenging, all year round, in spectacular "forever wild" surroundings. Pros might want to join the 3500 Club (catskill-3500-club.org), an elite group of climbers dedicated to climbing all 35 Catskill peaks of 3500 feet or more.

The Catskill Mountain Club is an association of outdoors-people who love to hike, camp, fish, hunt, canoe, kayak, bike, climb and otherwise enjoy nature and non-motorized outdoor recreational pursuits in the Catskill Mountains. Their site is a good resource for all sorts of outdoor recreation in our area, especially for hikers. catskillmountainclub.org/

This 26-mile trail offers a hard-packed surface that makes it perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. A unique feature of this trail is its very gentle grade. Young and old will find this an easy and enjoyable trek through some of the prettiest country in the world.
