Roxbury's "Turn of the Century Days" all throughout Labor Day weekend brings all the grace and charm of the 19th century Catskills roaring back to life. Among the many "agreeable pursuits of 1898" awaiting you and yours are the elegant horse-drawn surrey and hotel coach, old fashioned children's games, authentic victuals, hands-on crafts, and two full days of 19th century vintage base ball.
Step through the doorway into perfectly restored Main Street homes, from Victorian grande dames to humble farmhouses, with trained docents who will paint a portrait of Catskills mountain life 100 years ago. Children love to ride the train, roll a hoop, stitch a quilt, or watch woodsmen hew timbers while they enjoy ice cream, root beer floats and fresh fruit pie. Handsewn fashions from the 1860s to the 1900s will be on parade in a period Fashion Show and throughout the hamlet. Roving minstrels, craft workshops, silhouette artistry, brass marches and even those protesting suffragists create a living experience of Catskills history to enjoy.
