“PEP-py” preschoolers from Pink Elephant Preschool and their RCS pals have been learning about water and the environment in the watershed. One Saturday in May they tackled some stream cleanup along the East Branch in Roxbury.
In addition to old tires, a table (!) and other trash, they also found an Eastern Box Turtle, whom they visited politely and left in residence. This dynamic partnering program, funded by a CWC educational grant, culminated in a Science Fair in late May. Even our preschool watershed residents demonstrate the dedication and knowledge that local Catskills citizens bring to stream stewardship.
