In 2007 Roxbury will be applying for a Small Cities grant, and the broad support of Roxbury community members is more important than ever! Showing your support is simple and it's free but it's also crucial to the success of the grant application.
The grant would supply much needed housing repair funds for wonderful homes that need some critical TLC. Support letters are a key factor when it comes time to determine which township will get the funds. Roxbury's strong applications in the past were overshadowed by towns that mustered a show of broad support through many letters from businesses and residents.
You don't have to be applying for the rehab funds to write a brief note of support; in fact, having letters from businesses and citizens from every walk of life will show that Roxbury is behind the grant effort 100 percent. So much of Roxbury's "affordable" housing has simply become too expensive to fix: new windows or insulation or new plumbing may help a teacher's aide, a home health worker, or a carpenter stay in our community with a safe, affordable roof over their heads.
