Pink Elephant Preschoolers certainly learned plenty about helping plants grow in the course of their collaborative project with the Roxbury Central School seventh graders and showed off at their Science Fair at RCS last Wednesday. Funded through a CWC education grant, the program included stream hikes, a stream cleanup, science experiments and learning about watershed ecosystems and good stream stewardship. "PEPpers" could share their artwork, field notes and growing experiments and even take home a pumpkin to grow! Among the Science Fair visitors were RSC elementary students.
This will be the last "crop" of preschoolers to be taught by PEP Director Bonnie Walker, who is retiring this year after 27 years of unparalleled "youth enrichment." Her educational programs will be handed down to an abe PEP graduate, Sam Rose. The entire community will turn out on Saturday, June 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Kirkside Park (on the island) to wish Bonnie well on her further adventures and to thank her for teaching our children well. Please join us or call 607 326-3392 for more information.
