Mystery will meet history when the moon is full in Roxbury

Meet this hamlet's most famous — and restless — dear departed on Oct. 27

Ghost CarriageForget Casper and Frankenstein: why not spend Hallowe'en with some authentic spirits? Be aboard the Ghost Tour Coach when the full moon rises, Saturday, October 27, when history meets mystery In Roxbury. This historic hamlet's most famous ghosts have some startling tales from the beyond and they're all true! Meet your friends at the Public Lounge to fortify yourself with food and potions before you step aboard the elegant hotel coach and take a ride into Roxbury's storied and sometimes gory past . . .

You'll meet Dolly Reed, a widow woman with a past that's scarier than any soap opera: this hard-nosed businesswoman might bemoan the untimely deaths of her husband and all six children but the circumstances are highly suspicious . . . Then there's Harry Keator, Roxbury's beloved native son, a brilliant All-American athlete and talented surgeon. He's come home again only to meet a mysterious and macabre fate. Who's that shadowy figure pacing in the window of the old Kirkside Barns? And what's that ominous splashing sound in the East Branch? Do you hear a horseman coming up behind us?

Ghosts"We're going to showcase all of Roxbury's ghosts and give them the stellar setting they deserve," said Roxbury Parks and Seance Director, Peg Ellsworth. "This year's Ghost Tour will be a spectacle of spectres — we'll be ready with lighting and other effects to ensure that no one's in the dark when the witching hour comes. Ghost Tour guests be advised: you'd better hang on to your seats."

The Roxbury Victorian Ghost Tours depart this realm from the Public Lounge starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday October 27, and approximately every 30 minutes thereafter. Reservations are highly recommended and tickets are $13 per person. Allow yourself time to have a snack or meal before your coach departs. The tour is exclusively for those 16 and older and is not appropriate for children. Call 607 326-3722 for more details — if you dare!
