GONE FISHIN'

Roxbury’s Cub Scout Troop 41 braved some watery Catskills fishing weather on Saturday May 19 at their fishing derby at Stone Tavern Farm. Everyone caught some fish, and parent Chris Plante carefully supervised a lesson in how to clean your catch. After a short time on the grill, those fish were fit to eat (with hot dogs and watermelon, too.) The scouts later warmed up in an awards presentation, in which some Tigers and Bears received patches, belt loops and badges. The event gave all the boys a chance for quality time with mom and dad, each other — and trout!

Not all the members of Roxbury Cub Scout Troop 41 could be at the fishing derby but every troop member is an active scout in good standing, including Nathan Plante and Nicholas Plante (cleaning fish with his dad), Reese Cammer, Jose Scheer, Seth Stiber, Robbie Lalosh, Sean Van Dyke, Michael Finch, Beau O’Donnell, Justin Biruk, Nicholas Dorrance and the three “winning” fishermen on Saturday: Nicholas Ortzian (join the Scouts this summer), Zach Burrows and Frank Morales. Anthony Perazone, Issac Walker (digging into fish cleaning) and Anthony Cortese (who just can’t WAIT to try that fish) will also be joining the troop.
