New this summer Plattekill
Mountain is announcing the arrival of Mountain Bike Camps to their array
of resort offerings. "The main barrier to entry
for many interested in mountain biking here at Plattekill has been people's
hesitancy to biking 'down a ski mountain' "according to Plattekill's
Marketing Manager, Danielle Vajtay. So, to combat these fears, this year
Plattekill has decide to offer mountain bike camps to help ease people's
concerns and get riders feeling confident on a mountain bike, riding on true
off road trails, and getting more people riding on the resort trails!
The mountain's camp schedule will consisit of weekend-long camps geared for
different levels/types of riders and modified to those specialized riders
needs. Namely the mountain will feature a MTB101 camp which takes mountain
bike riding from the top and is for "entry level" type off-road riders. For women,
there will be a special "womens clinic" geared specifically towards
the female rider with a specific format featured. For the kids, they'll have
that too, a 3-day junior camp for boys and girls ages 8-13 teaching everything
from bike set up to, to shifting, breaking and bike maintenance.
Experiened riders, they've got that covered too! An advanced Pro downhill
camp for those wishing to take their riding skills to a whole new level.
This camp will be held in conjunction with Shaums March Training Camp series
known as Mad March Racing and will focus on improving
racing and riding techniques. This camp is open to male and female riders
ages 14 and up.
