"Grease" was the Word

photos by Ashley Staab

The beach was hot and so was Sandy. But I can’t let on. The guys’d bug me forever if they ever knew I fell for a chick so much like, well, um, like, uh… Sandra Dee. Okay, so what. She’s wick-ed!
-Danny Zuko
Roxbury Central School performed the musical Grease on November 9 & 10th. The show was directed by Tammy Allison and Marianne Schor with Richard Tucker offering Musical Direction.

Dany Zuko was played by Jefferson Piasek and Alisa Ferch played Sandy Dumbrowski. The Thunderbirds were played by Michael McAfee (Doody), Alex Riordan (Roger) Jonathan Dykstra (Sonny) and Christian Schor (Kinickie). The Pink Ladies were played by Rachel Meckes (Jan), Carol Lee McGinnis (Marty), Paulina Cowan (Frenchy) and Karly Bolger (Rizzo).

Cheerleader Patty Simcox was played by Angela Perazone. Kevin Lutz played big geek Eugene. Kaitlin Brew played Miss Lynch, everyone's favorite teacher to love and dislike.

The big school dance brought in Owen Sanford as the WAXX DJ Vinc Fontaine. Johnny Casino (Cody Allison) kept the dance moving. Alexa Finch did double duty as Cha Cha DiGregoria and the Teen Angel.

Future stars of RCS musicals shined in the Chorus. Megan Wallace, Abigail Wallace, Kathy Rae McGinnis, Suzanna Liddle, Kennedy Faraci, Baily O'Donnell, Jennifer Wallace, Katie Fairbairn, Cypris Boice, and Miranda Cross filled in wherever they were needed...as cheerleaders, dancers/hand jivers, and students.

The show was sold out both nights and a good entertaining time was had by all.

Greasers? They’re hoodlums, the whole bunch—Danny, Kenickie, Doody, Roger, and that Sonny LaTierri—they can’t fool me. They’ve already never amounted to anything.

Me and Frenchie, we got our own “gang.” And all I can say is it’s Pink! Pajama party anyone?
-Betty Rizzo

Dr. Carr and I warned you people. When the bell rings, you are expected to be in your seats, hands folded! That means you, too, Mr. LaTierri. Thank you and have a nice day.

I remember what it was like as a teenager in the 1950s. No, wait a minute. I can’t recall a thing. Come to think of it, I wasn’t a teenager in the ‘50s—I was a teenager in the ‘60s! So, in fact, I can’t remember either decade. But I digress.
