Writers in The Mountains (WIM), with the help of a generous grant from The New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization program is augmenting its popular 10-Minute Playwriting workshops to add opportunities for those playwrights who are veterans of the past six years and for experienced playwrights who are working to fine-tune works in progress.
This spring, WIM will sponsor two playwriting classes and a series of readings and performances. Frank Canavan will once again facilitate the workshops, and Mindy Pfeffer will serve as producer for the readings and performances. “We wanted to open up the opportunities for playwrights, and we wanted to insure that all the pieces that come out of the classes are presented to the public in as professional a manner as possible, “ says Jill Ribich, the Vice President of WIM. “The ‘Writing the Ten-Minute Play’ classes have been going on for over six years and have resulted in a lot of enjoyment for the playwrights and audiences. “
“Writing the Ten-Minute Play” will be for relative beginners or for people who want to write a new 10-minute play. Playwrights who have been enrolled in the previous classes are welcome to sign up again, and any writer with any level of experience will find this class a valuable introduction to the craft of writing for the stage.
