Mettawee returns with "Peace", adapted from Aristophanes' 4th century BC comedy about a feisty man who flies to Mt. Olympus to complain to the gods about the situation on earth. MARGOT LEVERETT AND THE KLEZMER MOUNTAIN BOYS at The Roxbury Arts Group.
Klezmer clarinetist Margot Leverett joins forces with today's stars of klezmer and bluegrass to explore the shared musical spirit of two genres literally worlds apart. Appalachian and southern fiddle tunes by Bill Monroe meet klezmer melodies from pre-war Russia and Eastern Europe, some newly discovered. Luxury Bus Trip to Glimmerglass Opera with The Roxbury Arts Group.
A full day of opera and good food. The bus leaves RAG at 9:30 am and stops for a luxurious luncheon buffet at the elegant Otasega Hotel in Cooperstown, then on to the highly acclaimed Glimmerglass Opera for a 1:30 matinee performance of Offenbach’s comic opera, “Orpheus in the Underworld.” Tickets are $82 and $106, including everything. SOURCE w/Abdoulaye Diabaté led by Quebecois flutist Sylvain Leroux, pioneer of African music collaborations in North America, Source is an explorative jazz unit featuring Mandeng vocalist and guitar great, Abdoulaye "Djoss" Diabate from Mali and Guinean fula flute Master Bailo Bah.
