The Roxbury Arts Group is seeking volunteers to serve as panel members for
the 2008 Community Arts Funding Program. This program, which provides grants
of from $500 to $5,000 to not for profit organizations or individual artists
to do public art is made available by The New York State Council of The Arts
and is administered in Delaware County by The Roxbury Arts Group.
Applications are reviewed by a panel of Delaware County residents who are active in the arts as either practitioners or appreciators in the full range of artistic genres: painting, theater, music, film, literature, etc. and who represent all of geographic Delaware County.
Panelists are expected to attend two meetings: an orientation meeting, scheduled at The Roxbury Arts Group on Thursday, October 25 at 1 pm, which will last approximately 2 hours; and the Decision Day, scheduled on Sat., November 17 at United Ministry Church in Delhi from 9 am to 5 pm. Panelists are also required to attend at least four of the events that are funded by the program throughout the year and to write a short report. They are also required to attend an awards ceremony on a Sunday in March.
Panelists enjoy the opportunity of being part of the cultural and artistic life of Delaware County and experiencing the wide range of artistry and community commitment that exists throughout the county. “The decision day is an ardous one, because there are always more good requests than we have money to give away, “ says Ann Epner, grants administrator. “But the panel always feels really good about the process.”
Those interested in becoming a panelist should contact Ann Epner, Community Arts Funding Coordinator for the program. Email her at aepner@roxburyartsgroup.org or mail her a statement of interest to Roxbury Arts Group, P.O. Box 93, Roxbury, NY 12474.
