An exhibit of art celebrating the Catskill Watershed by twenty four students ages 7-14 will be on view at The Walt Meade Gallery of The Roxbury Arts Group from October 20- January 11. The opening reception will be held on Saturday October 27 from 2-4 pm.
Using funds from The Watershed Agricultural Council, Project Leader Bertha
Rogers, Treadwell artist, poet and storyteller, in collaboration with The
Roxbury Arts Group, worked with students in Roxbury, Andes and Margaretville
Central Schools to increase awareness of agriculture within the Catskills
Watershed Area.
Rogers and the students researched the role of agriculture in the watershed and together created the body of written and visual work that is currently on display.
A jury composed of farmers will select five student projects to be included in a 2008 calendar . Gallery hours are Mon. – Frid. 10 am -4 pm, Sat. 1-4 pm and Sundays by appointment. (607) 326-7908.
