THE EAGLE HAS FLOWN!

Eric Robert Zimmerman of Boy Scout Troop 41 received the coveted Eagle Scout rank on July 23, a status achieved by only three percent of all scouts. Eric gave special thanks to his parents, his brother Brandon, and fellow Eagle Scout and friend K.C. Jones, who helped with his Eagle Scout project (landscaping in front of the original section of Roxbury Central School.)

Eagle ScoutceremonyEric was also presented with certificates and recognition from Roxbury Town Supervisor Tom Hynes, Robert Hill of the American Legion, and a representative of the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts. Scout leaders Ed Sanford (here pinning the Eagle Scout badge on Eric), Robert Cook (far left, seated), Dennis Slater and Eric’s dad, Fred (seen above left with Eric’s mom) participated, as did Kenneth Van Buskirk, who offered comments on scouting values.

Rev. Richard Dykstra offered the invocation and benediction and Charles and Lucy DiGiovanna provided refreshments. Eric was also inducted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, where he is studying business administration and hoping to transfer to Syracuse University in 2007.

He graduated from RCS in 2005 with an Advanced Regents diploma.
