On Sunday, October 29, at 2 pm, the Roxbury Arts Group will host a reception for the participants in the annual community photography contest. The public is invited to see the over 200 photographs that have been submitted by over 50 professional and amateur photographers in a number of categories.
This year the event will be held in the Hilt Kelly Hall of the Vega Mountain Rd. arts center. "For the past few years, we've held the show in the Main St. office building," says RAG's Executive Director, Jenny Liddle. "But last year we had so many entries that it was difficult to hang them so that everyone could see them. The quality of the work submitted is so high, every photograph deserves a chance to be seen."
The reception promises to be a treat for the public and an opportunity for photographers to meet one another and discuss the myriad of technical details that fascinate them, from f-stops to specialty papers for printing special effects.
Judges for the competition this year are Jill Ribich, Richard Sanford, Frans Edlinger, and Tom Rapin. There will be ribbons and cash awards to the winners, and all photos will remain on view through the month of November. Call (607) 326-7908.
