Friends and family of Debbie Cammer (standing in the photo below) gathered on Saturday to celebrate Debbie’s retirement on October 31 after 35 years in the post office. Of course, when you’ve helped people find and send their mail for that long, everyone in Roxbury is your friend! Debbie even did a brief stint in the Kelly Corners post office during 1986-87, shortly before it closed. Most of her career was right on Bridge Street, serving with postmasters from Linden Gregory to Emily Schuman to Barbara Meade, who just retired a year ago herself (Manny Birittieri is now the postmaster.) Debbie and Barbara worked together for the better part of two decades. The Cammer clan was especially happy to celebrate since they spell retirement “Full-Time Grandma!” Debbie is only too happy to oblige.
