Among the 2006 honorees at this year’s Delaware
County Historical Association’s annual meeting was our own Jenny Liddle,
who has stepped down after seven years leading The Roxbury Arts Group.
Jenny was a little amazed at receiving the award, and said she’d never received much formal recognition before. At first, she said, she wondered why she was being honored by a historical group for her work in an arts organization, but not for long. “So much of our history is told through our arts,” she said, citing the mountain music of Hilt Kelly, the stunning Delhi coverlets adorning the DCHA museum walls, and the many Delaware County locals who attended the auction of Homer Benedict’s native woodworking art, hoping to “take home their own little piece of our history. Our arts and our history are inextricably woven together,” said Liddle, and thanked the DCHA board not only for the award but also for honoring that connection.
