A weekend-long Memorial Day celebration coordinated by Fleischmanns First
and other community organizations brings everyone in this fabled resort
village to its quaint Main Street and historic ball park for fun, vintage
base ball, BBQ, historic tours, mountain music, quilts, horse & carriage
rides, kids' activities as well as sales galore: crafts, books, baked goods,
plants and more. On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fleischmanns' Main
Street will be lined with vendors and craft sales.
The Fleischmanns VFD will host Chicken BBQ Lunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Skene Memorial Library holds its annual book and bake sale.
The Fleischmanns Community Church will host its second annual quilt show, with quilts spilling into village storefronts and porches.
The Greater Fleischmanns Museum of Memories (one of America's most charming hometown museums) will open that weekend.
An Historic Walking Tour of Fleischmanns debuts on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a guided narrative and brochure.
The Catskill Mountain Boys will be jamming on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, and from noon-1 p.m. Hilt and Stella Kelly will play and lead square dances.
From 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mark Birman will offer his professional tennis coaching skills to kids and adults alike on a drop-in basis.
The newly revived 1895-style Mountain Athletic Club vintage base ball team takes once again to its historic park to meet the Bristol Blues at 2:30 p.m on Saturday, and at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Blues will face another local vintage team, the veteran Roxbury Nine.
Horse and carriage rides will be on offer throughout the day with children's activities. Margaretville Memorial Hospital's Mobile Unit will be on hand for screenings on Saturday. Fleischmanns Memorial Day Weekend Celebration continues with old-fashioned
gusto as the Mountain Athletic Club, Fleischmanns' newly revived vintage
base ball team, take on their neighborly rivals, the veteran Roxbury Nine,
in a noon showdown doubleheader in Fleischmanns' historic ball park.
Enjoy a narrated historic walking tour of this famous resort village at 10:30 a.m. A petting zoo, children's activities and wagon cart rides add to the family fun.
Plenty of food, including a pig roast and the Fleischmanns VFD beer tent, will be on offer throughout the afternoon, and at the conclusion of the games, an All-American pie eating contest.
The Fleischmanns First group will also hold the first of two raffles for a new playground.
