WRITERS IN THE MOUNTAINS RECEIVES GRANT MONEY

Writers in the Mountains has received a $1,600 Community Arts Funding grant to present four workshops led by professional writers. Each of these multisession workshops will be offered for $15, instead of the usual $75 fee for similar sessions. The funding is made possible through the New York State Council of the Arts Decentralization Program administered in Delaware County by The Roxbury Arts Group.

Barbara Apoian, teacher and head of WIM's Teachers' Committee, says, " Our hope is that by offering our workshops at substantially reduced fees we will attract new participants for our programs. WiM has recently received its not-for-profit designation, and we look forward to raising funds that will allow us to continue to make our classes more affordable."

Writers in the Mountains has lined up a series of workshops lead by notable facilitators that will provide something for everyone. WIM has always had a reputation for creating an environment that will encourage each individual writer to find and develop his/her unique voice. In fact the missions statement for WIM is that the joys of writing should be made available to everyone. Apoian, states, "It's tremendous to be able to make this special offer to attract new participants to our workshops. I am very excited, as a board member, to encourage newcomers to sign up for a workshop." To register on line www.writersinthemountains.org or 607 326 7908.
